What is an ERP system?
ERP stands for Enterprise Resource Planning – in other words, software designed to help businesses plan and manage their resources.
An ERP system is made up of modules that correspond to different departments within the company:
Automates and controls the entire procurement process—from requests for quotation and purchase orders to goods receipt and liabilities tracking.
Manages the full sales cycle: creating quotes, orders and invoices for customers, as well as monitoring payments and delivery schedules.
Provides complete bookkeeping (journals, ledgers, VAT), supports balance sheet and profit & loss statements, and ensures compliance with legal requirements.
Maintains employee records, time-tracking and benefits, and automates payroll calculation, taxes and social security contributions.
Enables liquidity management, budgeting, cash-flow forecasting and generation of advanced financial reports.
Supports planning, scheduling and execution of production orders, including MRP (material requirements planning) and cost control.
Handles inventory management, bin/location tracking, receipts, shipments and cycle counts.
Facilitates management of service orders—from ticket intake through work scheduling and resource allocation to repair history logging and service billing.
Is an ERP system necessary?
It’s possible to run a business without an ERP system – by relying on multiple software tools, spreadsheets, or documents stored locally or on a shared drive. The smaller the company, the easier it is to manage in such an environment.
But having multiple so-called ‘sources of truth’ often leads to problems and slows down basic operations. As a result, the company can’t grow as fast as it would like, because too much time is wasted on unnecessary tasks.
Where should you start if you want to implement an ERP system?
Start by analyzing your needs and mapping out the processes that exist in your company. This will help you create an initial list of requirements you can use to explore solutions on your own.
Or you can come straight to us – we’ll guide you through the entire process from start to finish, risk-free.
How can we help?
At 7F Technology Partners, we specialize in fixing processes and configurations in already deployed Dynamics 365 systems. We know our craft – we’ve spent many years working with AX 2009, 2012, and D365, especially in finance, accounting, and controlling.
What sets us apart is our honest communication. We treat every project individually and with top priority – because our goal is to build long-term, trust-based partnerships.
This approach often leads to new needs over time, such as developing additional features once the foundation is working properly. That’s where we also feel confident – thanks to the skills of our developers and solution architects.
